Product overview

Thymosin Alpha-1 10mg/10vials is a sterile lyophilized research peptide. Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino-acid acetylated peptide originally isolated from thymus tissue in the 1970s by Allan Goldstein and colleagues, and characterized as one of the active fractions of the older thymic-extract preparation thymosin fraction 5. It has a substantial preclinical literature on innate-immunity and adaptive-immunity endpoints, particularly in models of viral exposure and immunosenescence.

Independently assayed by HPLC and MS, and lot-traceable to the source preparation.

Mechanism

Preclinical literature characterizes Thymosin Alpha-1 activity around the maturation of T-cell precursors, modulation of cytokine secretion profiles, and activation of toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) on antigen-presenting cells. The molecule has been studied for downstream effects on the T-helper-1 vs T-helper-2 balance, on natural-killer-cell activity, and on the differentiation of regulatory T-cells.

The receptor and downstream-signaling characterization of Tα1 has matured over several decades of preclinical work and now forms the basis of an extensive immunology-research literature, with particular activity in models of immune dysregulation and viral exposure.

Typical research dose range

Published preclinical and early clinical immunology protocols use Thymosin Alpha-1 in the range of roughly 1.6 mg per administration twice weekly in human-equivalent dosing schedules, with proportional scaling in animal models. Researchers should consult source literature for the specific endpoint, model organism, and exposure pattern.

Stack and pairing

Thymosin Alpha-1 is studied alongside Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500) in protocols that examine both adaptive-immune (Tα1) and connective-tissue (TB-4) endpoints. It is also included in study designs that examine immunosenescence in aged animal models, where it is sometimes paired with Epithalon for combined endpoint coverage.

Reconstitution and storage

Reconstitute each vial with 1-2 mL of bacteriostatic water for the target working concentration. Use sterile technique. Once reconstituted, store at 2-8 °C and use within 30 days for best stability.

Lyophilized vials should be kept refrigerated at 2-8 °C until first use. For long-term storage beyond six months, store at -20 °C in the original sealed vial. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Kit contents

  • 10 × 10mg vials of lyophilized Thymosin Alpha-1
  • 1 × certificate of analysis (lot-specific)
  • 1 × handling and reconstitution insert

Frequently asked questions

Is this product for human consumption?

No. This product is sold strictly for laboratory research use only. It is not a drug, food, cosmetic, or dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How does Thymosin Alpha-1 differ from Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500)?

The two molecules share the “thymosin” naming heritage but are distinct peptides with different sequences and different research literatures. Tα1 is a 28-residue peptide characterized primarily in immunology research. TB-4 / TB-500 is a 43-residue peptide characterized primarily in connective-tissue and angiogenesis research.
